Roger gave his first performance in second grade and never stopped singing. He has sung in the acclaimed Utah Chamber Artists, Utah Symphony Chorus, and Utah Opera Chorus. While singing in these ensembles, he recorded for radio and CD, performed with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and with stars Rosemary Clooney and Jubilant Skyes. He has performed at Disneyland, on PBS, and at private events. He has sung the national anthem at many sporting events, including Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) and Salt Lake Bees (Triple-A).
A key feature of Roger’s musical journey is the transition from ensemble singing to solo artist. Ensemble demands blending and coordination of voices, but solo singing requires development and emphasis of the unique qualities of the individual.
In addition to singing, Roger is also a voiceover artist. He has been the voice of Spanish telephone prompts for AT&T, intro/outro spots, live radio, commercials, and PA announcements.
Roger’s education includes both academic and private study. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a music minor from Brigham Young University and a certificate of Vocology from the National Center for Voice and Speech (affiliated with the University of Utah). He has over 20 years of private study, including 10 years of private piano and 11 years of private voice and professional education from the International Voice Teachers of Mix (IVTOM) where he currently serves on the leadership board. He is also affiliated with the Pan-American Vocology Association (PAVA) and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
